Fun Times

Well, I'm back. I am having a much needed cup of coffee right now, while bouncing Avie in her bouncy seat! We've had a pretty busy week. Aunt Tottie came and stayed with us all last week, and it was so great! I love it when she comes...not only can I get things done, but it is so much easier to go places with an extra hand! We also made a trip to Shreveport during the weekend for Sammy's 2nd birthday. The boys really enjoyed playing together! Brandon had a wonderful Father's Day and received his gift a whole two days early...he can thank Jack for that. As soon as Brandon walked in the door from work, Jack announced loud and clear that he bought him a drill! He was so excited about getting a drill for his daddy. We also made him a book titled "Daddy and Me!" It has pictures of Jackson and his daddy doing their favorite things together.
Sunday we went out to Nana and Pee Paw's and went swimming, while daddy stayed home and "cleaned the house," I don't know how fair that was. Jackson followed Pee Paw around the whole time! They worked on tractors, rode tractors, found bird nests, ate bubblegum...all kinds of fun things that Pee Paw's do! Jackson absolutely loves his Nana and Pee Paw and I am so thankful for them.
Monday I woke up feeling icky with sinus stuff, we just stayed inside all day. Today I'm feeling better, but not completely back to myself again...hopefully by tom.

Here are a few pics of our outings the past week.

Free Day Friday

Well obviously it's Friday today and I am glad of it. I usually plan to do something fun with the kiddos on Friday and worry about nothing else but relaxing and having fun. I don't even bother with cleaning the house and when both of the kids are sleeping...I'll be lucky if they both are asleep at the same time, I do something I want to do! Today its blogging.
Earlier, Jack and I played in the pool and played tractors in the dirt. He also helped me pull weeds...he likes loading them in his dump truck and dumping them in various places. For me its like pulling weedsCheck Spelling twice! We also did some bird watching with the binoculars. There were two Hawks that landed in a big oak tree several houses down. They were being chased by a flock of small birds....I am guessing that maybe eggs or hatchlings were eaten by the hawks. After they landed in the tree you could see the small birds diving in the tree and flying back out...it was a sight to see, even Jack was enjoying this thrill. He kept asking, "What they doing? What they doing?" After lunch I showed him some videos on utube of a hawk catching a snake...He really thought that was cool! He said, "I going to spank that bird for gettin that snake."
I think we might get a head start on making a Father's Day card when Jack wakes up. We are taking Jack and Avie to Avery Island tomorrow. I hope Jack enjoys it...if I know him well enough, he will. I'll be sure and post some pics of the trip. So long for now and Happy Friday!

No More NuNu's

Well, the taking of the NuNu that I dreaded for so long, turned out to not be as bad as I thought.  I really hated to do it because it was the last thing that made him a baby.  These last few months he has turned into such a "big boy". He now asks to do everything by him self!
I cut the nipple off the NuNu and told him that Bailey (our dog) chewed it up.  He was so sad..."Mommy tix it, tix it. Let's go find the piece outside and tix it".  He ended up not taking a nap that day. Later on he said, "Mommy let's go outside and see Bailey".  Thinking to myself... I wonder how this is going to turn out, he goes into the shed outside and grabs his blue plastic bat and starts beating  her with it, saying, "Don't chew my NuNu!, Don't chew my NuNu!"  For his relief, I just let him do it.  That night wasn't too bad because he was so tired, and he fell asleep watching Tractor videos.  He does ask for it occasionally as if he has forgotten what happened, so I just give it to him and remind him that Bailey chewed it off.  He just looks at it in disbelief and tries to bite on whats left of the nipple.
I think the other night was the worst of it...we were running errands for most of the day and he didn't get a very long nap, so the few hours before bedtime he was a total wreck!  Of course, while we are preparing for bed he wants his NuNu, so I lure him into bed with it and again remind him of what happened, but this time he is not settled by it.  His crying fits go on for several minutes, so I told him that I would lay with him in his train bed.  So I do my acrobatic moves to get in the bed and lay next to him.  He settles down as I sing Rock a By and stares at his "broken NuNu". By now he is past tired, and I watch him try to put it in his mouth several times just wishing that nipple was still there. Finally he falls asleep with NuNu in hand.
I start feeling so terrible...how could I take away is comfort, his soother, the one thing that I can rely on to make him stop crying.  I wanted so bad to go get the NuNu I had stashed away and give it to him.  But I didn't, then all my efforts would have been wasted.  But I think we got through it... He just will probably never be the same towards Bailey...poor dog!
